Pretty please...tell me I'm not the only one....

Hi everyone ...

So, please, please, please tell me I'm NOT the only one who takes four million pictures of their kids and families opening Christmas presents and then PRINTS the photos and NEVER scraps those photos?!?!?!?!?!

I can't be the ONLY one right?!?!?!? Please tell me I am right on this... *wink* :)

I have scrappy goals this year -- to get through the 4 million photos I have stored in shoe bins (yes, shoe bins!) -- I am NOT a chronically order scrapper -- sad, but true -- I just scrap the photos that I feel like, be it new ones I just took, old ones ... doesn't matter -- just scrapbook whatever I feel like :)

But that's how I got myself in this predicament -- have bins and bins and bins and bins and BINS of photos -- so part of my scrappy goal is to get through those bins this year :)

Not kidding here people -- BINS of photos!!!!

(And this is what's left over AFTER I went through and sorted them, organized them... and actually threw a LOT away!!!!)

So I thought to myself -- one way of getting through that goal was to FORCE myself to scrap the 4 million photos I have of friends and families just opening Christmas gifts!!!! So I made a not-so-mini-album to document ALL the photos I had!!

1998 to 2012 --- yep... it is that big!! :)

I am missing 3 years though -- 2005, 2006 and 2007 -- don't know WHY I am missing those years -- I know I had a computer crash in early 2008 -- before I knew what backing-up systems and external hard drives meant :) -- but why I didn't have those years printed is a complete mystery to me :)

Oh well -- at least I have the years I do :)

And I am NOT going to torture all of you with EVERY SINGLE PAGE of this not-so-mini-album -- trust me -- this thing is HUGE -- and you would probably disown me if I shared EVERY page -- lol -- so I will be sharing just a couple from each year :)

See -- I told you -- HUGE!!!!! :)

1998 :) Adam was 22 months old :)

1999 :)

2000 :)

2001 :)

2002 :)

2003 :)

2004 :)

And now a few years lost -- moving on to 2007 :)

2008 :)

2009 :)

 2010 :)

2011 :)

2012 :)

Here it is again from the top --- just HUGE!!! :) I'd say it's about 80 pages :)

Soooooo again... please tell me I'm not the only one with 4 million pics of people opening presents and never scrapped them??? :)  Even if you lie to me... it will really make me feel better :)

Nothing fancy on my pages -- just mostly adding photos to the page and sometimes a few embellishments :)

I used lots and lots of different companies on these pages including Nikki Sivils, Momenta, Pink Paislee, Bo Bunny, Studio Calico, Simple Stories, Graphic 45, 3indypapier.com, and Creative Imaginations...

And thanks for all the CONGRATS on my new DT!!! You all ROCK!!! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate it! :)

Wow! Your book is fabulous! It's so nice to see pages with the kiddos growing up!
Wow! All your pics in tubs....so organized, mine are in packages, many of which don't even say what they are! You rock Julie!

What a fabulous album! Good for you for getting through those photos! Good luck!

Wow Julie! Way to go! I can see how it would be quite a challenge. That's a lot of photos! I used to print all my pictures too. Now I print them as I need them. Love your album idea. Fabulous!

Now thats what I call making a dent in those shoe boxes! Great job!

Carol said...

LOL...no you are not the only one! I take hundreds of photos during Christmas but only about 5% of them ever get scrapped. Great idea to get them all scrapped!

Lynette said...

That is a huge achievement...well done.

Okay first I'll lie: I have the same problem, Julie ;0)
Then I'll tell the truth: I don't have the same problem amnd here's why. I don't really take pics of people opening Christams gifts because that this the one time of year I try to enjoy the time and not keep my self busy with or agonozie over taking pics. I usually just try to take one pic of the kids on Christmas day and usually together just to have something to look back on. I think I actually have a few Christamases where I didn't take any pics... That I regret, but otherwise I am a happy camper with what it is I do.
What I have a lot of pics of are opening Birthday Gifts! But no where near "4 million"! LOL!
Great job on getting you pictures scrapped --- Finally!
And what a little cutie Adam was..so funny to see him so little as I've only "known" him since Brookie had already been born!

that's the way to rock a mini!!! and with larger rings you can even add to it!!! congrats on the DT.

I love this album. The simplicity is very inspiring! Fabulous job!

I loved seeing your babies when they were little! Thanks for sharing Julie. Oh, and no you're not alone. I've gotten so much better now though. 2 years ago, I decided NO MORE. I now only take a few, and only a handful of those ever get scrapped. It's nice to share our scrappy idiosyncrasies with others, lol.

Katie said...

Goodness, no, you are not the only one! Have to say that I think it is simply fantastic that you put all the years of Christmas present opening in one mini!

Lynn said...

You are not alone, lol. I have boxes and boxes of unscrapped photos. I did do a few Christmas minis by year, but not sure where I ended up, lol... I should probably continue, lol..Your inspiring me to go find that album!

Connie Mercer said...

no you aren't the only one with 4 million photos~you just have more energy than most of us~huge accomplishment:):):)

I'm totally with ya!!! TONS and TONS of printed photos that aren't being scrapped, esp Christmas!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE this solution!!! such a great idea!!! way to go and getting them in an album

Nope, you aren't the only one! Mine aren't even organize...and many are still on the computer!!!

Your book is a treasure! So fun to watch the kids grow up through the years!

L.B. said...

what a great way to record your kids growing and what they are interested in form year to year. Love your fun book and may even start to use some of those old photos now.

Michele said...

YOU my dear are not alone!! TONS of photos in bins here too. Circa 2001 to 2007. For some reason in 2008 I got smart and I just now print the pics that I am scrapping at that moment. I have a notebook that helps to keep it all somewhat organized for I am not a chronological scrapper either. I need to be... but that's not fun. :) My goal this year is to my kids books caught up. All the school, field trip, sport and activity stuff. Oh.. and their Birthdays. I take so many pics at their parties that I get intimidated. GOOD JOB making that mini! Truly fabulous!!

Jolanda Goes said...

Ooh yes I recognize....thats why I stopped having my pics printed and print them myself :):) But the old ones remain untouched now....so I recognize that too.
Julie love your album it's really great! And so much fun watchting Adam and Brookie growing up with the christmas theme. A real treasure and great and inspiring idea to follow!!!!

Paula Miller said...

WOW Julie! When I scrapbook I only print out enough photos for a few pages...I'd be completely overwhelmed and anxious with that many photos just waiting to be scrapped. At least your extremely organized with them :))

Tracey Sabella said...

What great memories you have captured here. I take millions of Christmas photos, but they are on my computer, not printed, and I have lots and lots left to scrap. LOL!! ~ Blessings, Tracey

Wow- love it! Great job dealing with that huge collection of printed pics! I tend not to print pics without knowing what I'll be scrapping, so the vast majority of my pics (probably 97%) never get printed.

Helen Tilbury said...

Wow Julie hats off to you for tackling that mammoth task and organising it so well! I have a couple boxes of older photos but these days I don't print until I scrap, because I never know what size will suit my layout best.

Jinny Newlin said...

Christmas pics are always so overwhelming for me to scrap. There's just too many! But I adore this idea, girl! And what an task you've got ahead of you with all those pics. Good luck! Hugs!

TesaB said...

Wow! That is one amazing project!!! Way to go!!! And wow also for all your photos!!! I do have loads of photos too, but I stopped printing them years ago and have most of them on my computer. But that is no good, really. Should print more!!!

Lizzy Hill said...

Yikes! You DO have a lot lot lot more photos than me....I LOVE how you've done this album, tho. HOliday snaps are my downfall....I Wish I could just SCRAP them instead of anxiously fussing so much...takes me soooo long to do a page. I admire how quickly you scrap...just as well with, what, about 3,985 left to scrap????LOLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cheryl said...

You are definitely not the only one!!! I have plastic (and a few cardboard) shoeboxes full of pictures, too. Years and years of them.

LOVED looking at the years through your pages!!

Beansieleigh said...

Nope.. Do NOT feel bad at all. I'm pretty behind myself, but with all good intentions, of course. (0; It's just that I can't take on this particular project right now... You see.. I must confess I still have to TAKE DOWN MY CHRISTMAS TREE!.. And honestly, I'm thinking, right now, this probably should take precedence! Ya think?... Well, in the meantime, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE ALL your beatiful scrapbook pages today! I think my own favorite, off the cuff, was of Brookie with her Tinkerbell doll! ~tina

Marjie Kemper said...

I say whatever works for you, works. I have a ton of unscrapped photos (not 4 million, though... just a mere 2-3!) and I'd be thrilled to have them organized like you do in easy searchable tubs instead of chrono order in their CVS/Snapfish envelopes.

I remember seeing a video from Stacy Julian about that method of sorting and thinking I should really bite the bullet and do it. Maybe a new goal for me. Thanks for sharing, Julie! And I do love your mini/maxi album!

Leah Crowe said...

oh wow, what a lovely ginormous treat of an album that is.. seriously, i bet it's amazing to page through. LOVE it!

Heather Landry said...

That's a mega album... not a mini! Such a cool idea to get all of the presents into one album. Just fabulous on so many levels.

I still have photos of Brandon's first Christmas in 2007. They are NOT scrapped. So...

Keren Tamir said...

I know exactly what u mean. I take lots of pics and print lots but not all. I like having selection when I scrap because I don't know which pic I'll want. At least u got lots of them in this album. Fantastic job

Annmarie Pipa said...

your organization skills are amazing!!

Linda said...

Very very cool! And Yes I have boxes and boxes of pictures and I use to get made at my mom because all her pictures were a big box under her bed. It was a mess. I had mine in a book with pages I got in the 80's that were suppose to be safe and not yellow but they did and so I took all the pictures out of the book. It all keeps us out of trouble. LOL
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Linda

I am the opposite, always looking for photos to scrap! making the kids pose for pics so I can make a page...lol...love your book, so fun and full of great details and pics :)

karenw said...

yep, you certainly aren't the only one - I always think they are just such busy photos, hard to scrap.

I try to get them done the year later when I'm back in Christmas mode, January is holidays here so I don't get any scrapping doen and Feb just seems wrong scrapping Christmas...

Such a good idea to get then all in one book though. xxx

I almost NEVER scrap "events". So, yep, I'm right with you. ;-) Love this!

This album is such a great idea. I love that you used up lots of pictures plus it's a great way to compare how people have changed over the years. Great project!

Oh my, that sounds like me a month ago, but not anymore, I finally bought myself a photo printer, and now I only print the one I want to scrap, the rest are all in the hard drive, I only pull them out to print when I need it. However, I still have boxes of photos though. Have fun scrapping!

michelle hodges said...

No your not the only one. I do that too!!
Love all of your pictures you shared!!!
Very precious memories for you and your family.!!

Great idea for getting all of these photos documented. I have given up all organization and just decided to do what I want and I feel a lot more creative and less stressed, instead of trying to keep up with what I'm doing...I can actually get stuff done!! :)

certifiedpaperfreak said...

oh my, do you actually have every picture you take developed? if you do, way to go. mine usually just sit on my computer until i want to scrap it or put it in a album.
these were so fun to look at! great idea.

Hahahaha, I didn't take 4 million but yeah you are not the only one for sure... but you are probly one of the few that keep them this organized!!! Oh I wish! It looks like a lot of work, awesome job!!! I loved the album and could have looked at every page without disowning you, hehe!! They are all so wonderful!! I wish I could do this but it would take months and I am guessing it took you a day or two.. lol Hugs

I'm sooo guilty of the same thing Julie. I've gotta get motivated and get some albums done. Love your adorable album!!!!

Linda Jordan said...

That album must've taken forever, wow what an accomplishment!! I have tons of unscrapped photos from all sorts of events...I just never print them until I'm going to scrap them so I don't have that many in boxes [though I do have some from when I was a kid].

Mary Jo Rhoda said...

No, you are not!!!!
I rarely scrap a Chrismas morning layout! But I should.
And I LOVE your idea!!!!
I actually have an album that I was going to dedicate to just Christmas photos over the year, but never used it. You have inspired me.
Well, after I scrap some of the 4,000,000 travel photos that I need to scrap, too (lol)

Georgia Visacri said...

LOL, Julie, don't worry, I'm sure there are many people who do exactly like you told, LOL

Love your {huge} mini album, so precious!!

Mine aren't Christmas related but I do have tons of pics to scrap too, especially because I should have scrapbooke more last year and didn't...

Rose said...

nope you are not the only one!! at least you scrap yours mine just sit in boxes or on the computer!! lol

super fab album girlfriend :)

Linda R said...

Wow! That is 1 heck of a goal. I hate to say it but I'm the worst it taking pictures especially at Christmas. I just like you to take photos of silly stuff. I feel kinda bad about that
here. Best of luck to you. And I have to say all these pages look great.

Christy said...

Wish I could say I feel your pain...but I'm probably among the minority that's not only caught up, but running out of projects!!! Crazy right?!?!?! But I soooo love this mini :)

Hello,
I found your blog by reading ImagMeri's blog! if you son is still into Nascar and a Dale Earnhardt senior fan, please email me. I have something that I would love to give a true fan of Dale Sr.

Oh, I don't have mine sorted like you do, but I do have a huge drawer full of pics!!! so bad I know!
Hugs,

Those pages are super cute. Bright colours and happy photos - always a winning combo. :)

P/s: Maybe you should do a decade of photos in a spread...always nice to compare the growth of the child this way...and you get to 10 photos at a go...and maybe have some hidden pockets for other photos instead of throwing them out? I haven't been scrapping for that long so I don't have this problem...lol

What a FANTASTIC idea for the leftover photos!! I am collecting them now too!! I LOVE your album and how in the world do you whip these out so fast??? PURE AWESOME!! :)

I love your organization! I wish I had that many pics to scrap AND that they were organized. We are terrible about taking pictures...even when we remember to take our camera with us. I am so inspired by how much you scrap and make minis and document! Love that :)

glorygirl said...

What a GREAT idea! I have tons of photos printed and unscrapped. Perhaps I should pick a theme, like you did, to get more of them scrapped!!! You are rockin' the catch up game!!!

Izzy Anderson said...

First, your not so mini album is just terrific. Beautiful work and wow, what a treasure for your family to have all those photos and memories preserved.

I'll be honest: I don't take many Christmas-present-opening photos. Just a few, maybe to document the "big" present, and I take a pic of the tree. But otherwise, I try to sit back and just soak it all in.

cathy said...

Love the combined album. Fabulous idea. I don't scrap in order either. I find it I only print about 25-50 pictures at a time, then I'm forced to work with what I have on hand.

Antonia Krajicek {Green Horned Unicorn} said...

I love the chronology of the album! How fun to see the kids grow over the years :)

I'll admit, I take hundeds and hundreds of photos, but they all live on my computer. So that's probably even WORSE. At least yours are printed and ready to go. Good luck with your HUGE goal! I have no doubt you'll accomplish it though :)

Staci said...

You're not alone but I don't have near the amount that you have stored!! Great album! Have fun!
