100% Original :)

Hi everyone :)

Wanted to pop in quick tonight and share a canvas I made for the latest Berry 71 Bleu challenge!! Their challenge was to be inspired by wings! :)

As mentioned above - I made a canvas!!

I used some vintage lace (doily) and vintage spools I found at an antique store, some Prima wood goodies and washi tape from BlueMoonScrapbooking.com, and I the fairy is DCWV paper that I won from Julie! :)

And I can't believe it is AUGUST all ready!!!! I took my monthly photo with Brookie and Adam at the end of July, but totally forgot to upload it!!

I have a lot of new followers -- so let me explain my monthly photo with my babies :)

4 years ago -- (can't believe it has been that long ago!!) ... my fellow DT member at Scrapping the Music Aleida Franklin wrote a very profound blog post... she realized that she didn't have a lot of photos of her and her kids together -- and that she realized that she didn't because she was always BEHIND the camera -- and on that day of August 2008, she finally had had enough -- she realized that she was being silly by not being in the photos -- because her kids just saw Mom -- they didn't see the fat that Aleida saw in the mirror, they didn't see a woman with messy hair, no make-up... they saw MOM... and that's all her kids saw was MOM...they saw her as their beautiful Mom and not how she viewed herself -- and on that day Aleida decided that every month she would take photos WITH her kids so they would remember her and what she looked like ......

A little over a month later, Aleida was killed in a car accident...

She only had that one month of photos with her kids....

The day she died, it changed my life forever ....

From that moment and every month since, I have had my hubby take pics of me and the kids together -- no matter what I look like at that moment, no make-up, hair a mess, wearing PJ's ... doesn't matter -- my kids will remember ME and remember what I look like... their Mom... not what I see in the mirror ... but what they see in me :)

So without further ado... here is July's photo with my babies :)

And on the day that we took the above photo..... Miss Brookie had lost her 5th baby tooth at summer camp!!! The tooth fairy has been visiting us A LOT lately!! :)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate it! :)

  6. WOW..that canvas is just gorgeous, what else can I say!!! WOW... I loved reading the story of Aleida, it brought tears to my eyes. It is a gentle reminder that we do need to step in front of that camera more often. I don't think my kids would remember me all dressed up and fancy, but just me being a "mom". Your capturing those memories with each photo. Thank you for this post my friend.

I then happened to return to her blog the day her family had posted about their loss! I was left in tears. I did not know her at all but her story touched my heart deeply. Thanks for the reminder.
