The Magic of OZ....Graphic 45 altered book/shadowbox's :):):):):):)

Hi everyone :):):):):):)

Thanks so much for all the Happy Birthday wishes for my Dad from my post yesterday! :):):):):):):)

I wanted to share a little project I made yesterday! :):):):)

I bought 3 book shaped shadowboxes from Michael's (one I will be posting later with some Nikki Sivils new Christmas papers!) .... and 2 of them I wanted to alter and make a "Wizard of Oz" scene with... and what better papers for this task than Graphic 45's "The Magic of OZ" line that I got from BlueMoonScrapbooking.com :):):):):):):):):)

And for those that might be interested in how I made the books look 'crackled' and 'old'... here is how I did that...
The books looked like this when I bought them...

First I painted them black....

Then I added a layer of Medium Crackle Paint......

Then I painted the gold over the crackle paint :)

And you end up with a finish like this... :)

Thanks for stopping by... I appreciate it! :):):):)

  47. Hi there, Julie! Just wanted to pop by your blog to check out all your fun creations and to say hello. I'm just tickled by these cute altered books you created. What wonderful little treasure boxes they are. When I was younger, I collected a lot of antique additions of the Wizard of Oz books, so these really pull on a heart-string for me. Love the crackle finish and all the amazing details, both inside and out.
