Happy Father's Day and Chicken Pox?? :):):):)

Hi everyone! :)

Gonna try and make this a long story short :)  Thursday night while giving Brookie a bath, I noticed some spots on her side and her thigh... so I added oatmeal to her bath (we keep this on hand because of her sensitive skin from her Port Wine Stains)... anywho...when Brian dropped her off at daycare on Friday, he told the teachers about it and asked them to keep an eye on it... they called him around 11 and told him they seemed to be getting worse... so Brian took her to Urgent Care... and they swore up and down that it was a "mild" case of Chicken Pox (she has actually had the shots for this)... so when Brian got home, he called her Pediatrician, and they said they haven't seen a case of Chicken Pox in a few years, so they didn't think it was that.... they also said, that once these "spots" started scabbing over and it happens to be Chicken Pox, then NO NEW spots will appear... and if they did we needed to take her back to Urgent Care... Now its Saturday, and she has NEW ONES even though most of the ones from Thursday and Friday have started to scab over. So back to Urgent Care we go (this time we went to a Pediatric Urgent Care)... they made me feel a little more at ease... IT ISN'T Chicken Pox... it is actually "Impetigo" which is a skin infection caused by bacteria.... so now she has been put on an antibiotic and given a cream to help... I have never heard of this... but with her sensitive skin... I can probably seeing this happening again *sigh* it will get better, right? :)

Here are some pics so you can see how fast this moved on her....
(Sorry if these are graphic for everyone...)

At least she was in good spirits after leaving Urgent Care today :)

So, we aren't going anywhere for Father's Day today... we will be staying at home... and celebrating next weekend :)

But I want to wish Hubby Brian and all the Dad's out there (including my Dad and Father-in-law) a VERY HAPPY FATHERS DAY! :):):):)

Here are some cards I made for Father's Day :):):)

I made these using Nikki Sivils papers (Max & Mollie and It's Raining, It's Pouring) :):):):)

And in case you missed it... yesterday was my "Showcase on You!" post over on Nikki's blog... head on over and see the gorgeous creations I found this month :):):):):):):):)

Thanks so much for stopping by! I appreciate it! :):):)

  7. Oh Dear girl, as a mum i can only imagine what you are feeling, and wow, chicken pox is rampant over here, and so is hooping cough, these things are unheard of these days with the immunisation we get our children. Wow, I am praying for you and little Brookie, dear little girl, wow, she has been through so much. She is brave though, and just like her courageous mum she will get through this dear friend. Thinking of you and glad you have had a calm weekend and happy father's day to you DH and father. Love to you across the miles Melxx

  9. Hopefully her impetigo will clear up soon now that she's on an antibiotic. My sister had that on her face one year as a teen (that was so hard for her), but it cleared up once she got diagnosed properly!! Fun layout and love the cards!!! :-)

  10. EEK! Chicken pox!! It seems strange that her diagnosis would be Chicken Pox even with the immunization! Glad that it is only impetigo and that she will be better in no time.
    Darling layouts.

  11. Bless her heart! My 4-year-old got the same exact thing this last January, except his was all over his mouth, face and neck! Same deal, at first they thought it was Chicken Pox and it ended up being Impetigo too! The antibiotic/cream truly will help it clear up soon!

Beautiful cards & creations as always! Have a relaxing Sunday!

  16. Oh poor baby! I hope that Urgent Care also informed you that Impetigo is VERY easily transmitted. So handwashing and laundry on the hottest setting with a bit of bleach for towels and sheets is a must.

Did you ever know I worked in the medical field for over 10 years? :)

On a side note, you always have like 50 comments and I know you work full time. So how do you keep up with comments? Just know that you don't have to comment me all the time. I understand. :)

  27. Impetigo is contagious & not fun to deal with. My kids all got it one year. Ugh!

  30. My son has/had this before and we have to constant watch it doesn't come back. The first time was when he was 13mths and he face was very dry, crusty and covered in red splotches. After several doctors appts my MIL suggested it was impetigo since my SIL had it as a child. We had to do oral and topical medicines as well. And now 1 yr later he has another bout with it. So, he just has really sensitive skin especially when it comes to water, heat and seasonal changes.
I hope Brookie is feeling much better with the medicine.
Your cards are so cute, fun and playful!!!
    Have a good week!
