*She has no theme, just branches full of memories" :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Hi all......

Wanted to share a lo and a card today... my title for my lo is..."She has no theme, just branches full of memories" ....and its a lo about our Christmas tree.... I have ALWAYS wanted a themed Christmas tree, blue and silver decorations, red and green, gold...etc etc etc.....but then this year after Brookie, Adam and Adam's friend Garrison put the ornaments on the tree...I started looking at it wondering, "Yeah, it would be awesome for me to have a 'matching' tree, with everything perfect, but would I ever want to give up the love and memories these ornaments give me?" and the answer was no.....I love all my 'baby first Christmas' ornaments of Brookie and Adam...I love all Brian's bowling ornaments, the ceramic ones my Mom made, the ones that friends and family have given me over the years...so I have come to realize that I all ready have my dream tree! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) I made this using Nikki Sivils Happy Holly-Days and some charms from "Creative Charms" :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) Also for this lo, I used one half of a sketch (it was a 2 page sketch, and I just used one side of the sketch!) from Debbie Sanders and Allison Davis! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)  AND PS....I promise...my lo isn't this off centered IRL...I just could not for the life of me edit it straight! LOL! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

And I also made a card for the latest challenge at "The Studio"...this time they wanted to see a Christmas themed "Thank You" card....and here is mine... :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Again, I used Nikki Sivils Happy Holly-Days and some charms from "Creative Charms" :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I made this for a local man named Bern.  Some that have been with me since last Christmas know that Bern decorates his home BEAUTIFULLY for Christmas with wooden decorations that he hand makes... he has been opening up his home and his heart for 57 years!!! Sadly, this is Bern's last year of allowing people to walk through his home and see all the decorations, from now on, he will only be decorating the front of his home, and as some of you remember, last year, I saved my change all year long to be able to buy one of Bern's creations...here is Bern, me and Brian last year after I bought my wooden puppy decoration that Bern made! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) (Yes! I am crying like a baby in this photo...I'm such an emotional person! LOL!)

And so I made this Thank You card for him and his family for all the happiness he has brought my family over the past 30 years that we have visited his home! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):) And we went there last night to give it to him....here are photos from last nights visit! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

Aren't his creations gorgeous!?!?!??!?!?! *love* :)

Me and Bern!!! He wanted me to wear his FUN Santa hat!! *love* :)

*Future Scrapbookers???* :):):):):):):)

Thanks for stopping by....I truly appreciate it!  :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

I'm surprised that you only have 1 X'mas tree! But you can see beautiful trees at the mall...your own tree should be filled with love and memories special to you and your family!

Love your tree layout! Especially the bling! :)

  6. My tree is the same, no theme, I just hang every little thing I like in there ... old ornaments that used to belong to my grandmother, some new ones I bought myself, things the kids made ... even though sometimes they have nothing to do with christmas LOL. It's just one disorganized tree, and I love it!!!
Bern's creations are just wonderful!!! I remember I loved seeing the pics of his work last year, and this year it's no different! How I would love to see them in real life!!
    Enjoy the christmas fun Julie!

  16. I love your lo, and your tree I agree don't change it into a fashionable no meaning tree (you know what I mean do you?) keep those memories in your house and heart!!!!
You know I love to see pics of Bern's decorations (they remind me of Dutch ceramic called hummeltjes) I love the pics it's gorgeous as every year!!!

  17. I too gave up on my dream of a "theme tree" when my hubby explained that Christmas is not about themes but about enjoying the season and the memories that it brings us...thus using old and new ornaments that don't necessarily match.. Also I really don't think the kids, especially my little one would enjoy a "themed" tree as much as our traditional tree.

Bern's house is AWESOME!! Wow! His house is defintely in the Christmas spirit! Beautiful and he is VERY talented!

  18. Julie, you are such a kind woman!!! You and Bern brought tears to my eyes. My grandfather did the same thing many years ago. I still remember his fantastic decorations all hand made from wood and paint. I wish I could have continued the tradition but I have no idea where the decorations got to.
As for your tree I just went through the same thing. I have gorgeous hand blown glass ornaments. Some which are worth over $200 (I know). Once kids entered the picture I hesitated to put them out in fear of them getting broken but was so sad that "my" ornaments wouldn't be showcased. Now that my girls have their own special ornaments to put on the tree it is so much more meaningful. My tree may not be as beautiful as a department store model but it is the most gorgeous tree in my and my kids eyes : )

  24. A tree page is a great idea and I LOVE your title....so fitting! I remember when you bought your puppy last year. I'm happy you were able to visit again this year. :)

  25. I think your tree is just perfect!!! I always wanted the same thing, but with 5 kids, and their ornaments...a themed tree is not possible. I just add in the gold and red balls, gold sheer ribbon, red "cranberry" garland, and clear lights. It seems to bring it all together...the kids love it and I would not have it any other way!!!!

  39. I loved your tree, and the layout is perfect! Did you notice the hidden mickey the berries made at the bottom of the page? Lol
I am sure Bern loved the card you made, so sweet! His house looked amazing! There are not too many places here that do that much decorating, its just too much work, but I love looking at it. My favorite memories growing up were going to the Big Christmas Tree on 4th street. This older couple had a 40 foot pine they covered in lights and blanketed their entire yard in snow and characters and they walked around as Mr and Mrs Claus. Well as time went on they moved to assisted living and the new owners of the house cut the tree down. It about broke my heart. Have a very Merry Christmas with your cute family XoXo
